Acumatica Appoints Jason James as CIO to Lead IT, AI and Security Strategy

Former Aptos Retail CIO brings more than 25 years of technology leadership experience as Acumatica strengthens its IT operations to support continued growth.

Acumatica has appointed Jason (JJ) James as chief information officer, adding an experienced SaaS technology executive to its leadership team as the cloud ERP provider expands its operations.

Announced on October 8, 2026, James joins Acumatica’s executive committee and will lead the company’s IT organization, with responsibility for strengthening the technology infrastructure supporting employees, partners and customers. His priorities will include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and scalable IT operations.

The appointment brings extensive experience in cloud infrastructure management and enterprise technology transformation to Acumatica at a time when SaaS providers are balancing business growth with increasing demands for security, operational reliability and AI adoption.

Extensive Experience in Cloud and IT Transformation

James brings more than 25 years of technology leadership experience across private equity-backed and publicly traded organizations.

Most recently, he served as global CIO at Aptos Retail, overseeing the strategy, operations and security of multi-cloud SaaS platforms operating across Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.

He previously held CIO positions at Net Health and Optima Healthcare Solutions, where his responsibilities included cloud modernization, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance and IT integration during mergers and acquisitions.

“JJ is a proven CIO who leads technology organizations that scale with growing businesses,” said John Case, CEO of Acumatica. “His experience managing all aspects of IT through periods of growth and transformation will be invaluable as we continue delivering the reliability and innovation our community counts on.”

Prioritizing AI Adoption Without Compromising Security

At Acumatica, James will focus on strengthening internal technology capabilities while supporting the company’s continued expansion.

AI adoption will be a particular priority, alongside maintaining the security and reliability of the systems supporting Acumatica’s operations.

“Growing businesses need technology they can trust,” said James. “My focus is putting AI to work across Acumatica while keeping security at the core, so we can move fast without compromising the trust our expanding community of customers, partners and developers places in us.”

His appointment reflects the growing importance of balancing AI adoption with security, governance and operational resilience within enterprise software organizations.

Acumatica has not announced specific AI initiatives or infrastructure investments associated with James’s appointment.

James is also the author of Make IT Work: An IT Playbook for Mergers and Acquisitions. He holds a master’s degree in applied information management from the University of Oregon and a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University.

As Acumatica continues to expand its cloud ERP business, James will be responsible for ensuring its internal IT organization can support that growth while maintaining the security and reliability expected by its customers and partners.
