Sage Launches Sage HCM to Connect HR, Payroll and Finance for Mid-Market Businesses

Sage has launched Sage HCM, a new human capital management solution designed for mid-market organizations in North America, as the company expands its strategy to bring workforce management and financial operations closer together on a single platform.

Integrated with Sage Intacct, the new solution connects HR, payroll, and workforce data directly with finance systems, giving organizations greater visibility into labor costs while supporting payroll accuracy and workforce planning.

The launch comes as businesses place increasing focus on workforce costs, often one of the largest and most dynamic areas of operating spend.

Bringing Workforce Data Into Financial Decision-Making

Many organizations still manage HR, payroll, and finance through separate systems, creating fragmented data environments that can limit planning accuracy and slow decision-making.

According to Sage, Sage HCM is designed to solve that challenge by bringing core HR, payroll, time, and talent workflows together in one connected platform built for more complex mid-market needs, including multi-entity organizations and multi-jurisdiction payroll.

“HR, payroll and finance data should not sit in separate systems,” Jonathan Cowan, EVP, HCM, Platform Strategy and Operations at Sage.

“With Sage HCM, organizations can connect workforce and financial data in one place, improve visibility into labor costs, strengthen payroll accuracy and make better workforce planning decisions.”

Construction-Focused Capabilities at Launch

Sage HCM launches with an industry-specific version for construction firms, where labor management, payroll compliance, and project costing often create additional complexity.

The construction offering includes support for union rules, certified payroll, and prevailing wage requirements, while linking labor data directly to project financials.

This reflects a wider trend across ERP markets, where vendors are increasingly tailoring platforms for industry-specific requirements rather than relying only on generic horizontal functionality.

AI-Powered HR and Payroll Automation

The launch also includes the HCM Agent, described by Sage as its first AI agent dedicated to HR and payroll workflows.

The tool is designed to assist with payroll preparation, validation, reconciliation, and the identification of potential compliance risks, helping reduce manual effort while maintaining oversight of critical processes.

Expanding the Sage Platform Strategy

Beyond the product launch itself, Sage said the new solution also creates additional opportunities for partners to support customers with workforce management, payroll, compliance, and finance transformation.

“By bringing these workflows together on the Sage platform, we’re helping customers operate with greater clarity, control and confidence.”

The move underlines a broader direction in enterprise software: bringing finance, HR, and operations closer together through integrated cloud platforms supported by embedded AI.
