Sage Intacct Plans Its First AI Workspace for Invoice Review and Approval

Sage plans to open its first Sage Intacct AI Workspace to selected customers in November, starting with accounts payable. The workspace is designed to bring supplier invoice records, discrepancies flagged by Sage’s AP Agent, and the steps finance staff use to review and approve invoices into one place. Sage announced the plan on November 5 at Sage Future for Partners in Atlanta.

The AP Agent can help process invoices, match them to purchase orders, flag exceptions, and route invoices for approval. In the planned workspace, finance staff would review what the agent flagged and approve work according to their company’s configured controls, said Jon Fasoli, senior vice president of Sage Intacct.

Sage plans a limited November rollout of its first Intacct AI Workspace, where an agent matches supplier invoices and finance teams retain approval control.

What the workspace adds to invoice matching

Intacct already supports three-way matching for accounts payable. Sage’s 2026 Release 2 notes describe how the software compares individual lines across purchase orders, receiving records, and supplier invoices. It can flag differences in quantities or prices, and companies can set tolerances for minor discrepancies.

Take an invoice for 100 units when the receiving record shows 90. The matching tool can flag the difference. A reviewer can then check whether the supplier billed for a shipment that is still in transit or whether the receiving record needs to be corrected. The workspace Sage described would bring the flagged item, relevant records, and approval steps together so the reviewer can follow up inside Intacct.

How approval fits into the workflow

Intacct’s existing bill approval policies can route invoices based on factors such as the supplier, department, or invoice amount. Some bills require more than one approver before they become eligible for payment. Sage documents separate approval workflows for bills entered in Accounts Payable and transactions created in Purchasing. Its November announcement did not specify how the first workspace will handle those two paths.

The Sage Agent Marketplace is already available. Intacct customers can activate partner-built agents and assign permissions through the agent management console. Sage plans to bring partner agents into AI Workspaces as those workspaces develop. The company has given a November window for selected customers to try the accounts payable workspace and has yet to announce a date for broader access.
