Microsoft has incorporated world’s largest professional network, LinkedIn, in order to reach out more people to spread more economic opportunity. Microsoft has announced their incorporating of LinkedIn, which has roughly 433 million users and is active in over 200 countries. This is Microsoft’s one of the largest acquisitions with $26.2 billion and the transaction is nearly done. Judging by this acquisition, it may safely be inferred that it’s an important acquisition for Microsoft.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated that as two leader companies in their own fields, this combination of forces will deliver a more connected, productive and intelligent experiences in his Influencer article on LinkedIn. LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner also stated that their joining forces with Microsoft will increase the speed of their growth and it will help world’s professionals to find more opportunities as well as increasing the global workforce. Microsoft also bought Nokia Corp. in 2014 in the past as well as the Skype Technologies and continues to grow more. According to Satya Nadella, it would be wrong to consider LinkedIn as a simple social network since it’s a destination from which professionals set off to search for more opportunities.
This acquisition will also have many benefits for Microsoft as well as LinkedIn. LinkedIn will provide many new connections and will make Microsoft reach out to more people in order to continue its growth since Microsoft hasn’t been quite successful in the social networking area. LinkedIn’s growth will also expand thanks to the Microsoft.
“Today is a re-founding moment for LinkedIn. I see incredible opportunity for our members and customers and look forward to supporting this new and combined business,” also said Hoffman and added that he supports and recommends this acquisition. Lastly, it is believed by both of the companies that this acquisition will be beneficial for them.
