Malay brings with him more than two decades of proven experience in the federal market where he has worked as a sales executive and business leader for companies such as IBM, SAP America and Manugistics.

At Coupa, Malay is responsible for establishing the company’s “Value as a Service” spend optimization solution to drive down costs and improve overall procurement and contract management efficiency within the federal government. Malay will help government agencies manage their spend more efficiently by providing them direct access to Coupa’s innovative solutions.

“There is a new focus on improving the overall efficiency of federal government agencies and spend management is a key target in this effort,” Malay said.  “The federal government has an enormous task to improve efficiency and drive down costs.  Coupa’s “Value as a Service” can enable federal agencies to better monitor their budgetary expenditures, improve their product and services sourcing and provide them with valuable spend analysis – with the end result of measurable success.”

Prior to his role at Coupa, Malay was the director of sales and business development for IBM’s Public Sector Workday ERP practice where he led a nationwide sales team focused on expanding Workday’s presence in the public sector.  While at IBM, Malay also was responsible for driving efficiency, reducing costs, and improving the overall operations for public sector customers as part of the company’s “Smarter Planet” initiative.

Malay also served as the vice president and general manager of the Federal Civilian and International Public Sector Group for SAP America where he had P&L management for the business unit. He was responsible for the sales, delivery, and implementation of SAP’s suite of solutions for federal organizations such as the Department of the Interior, Department of Agriculture, Department of Homeland Security, NASA, General Services Administration, US Postal Service, IRS and Amtrak and international public sector organizations such as the World Bank and the United Nations.

Malay’s career also included tenure with Manugistics, a global supply chain solution provider, where he was the vice president of the Global Government, Aerospace, Defense, and Airline Industry Group.  A public sector professional, Malay is a member of several industry organizations, serves on a number of advisory boards and has been a speaker and key presenter at numerous conventions and conferences.

“Within the current context of budget challenges and the need to streamline government spending, I believe now is the time for government agencies to embrace and accelerate the adoption of market leading cloud procurement technologies.
